Adapalene
Adapalene belongs
to a class of acne skin treatment medications called
retinoid-like compounds, meaning it is chemically
similar to Vitamin A.
It is a topical treatment
carrying the acne treatment product brand name Differin® and
available in four different forms: gel, solution
(liquid), cream and individual pledglets (medicated
wipes for one time use).
In its purest form,
adapalene is a whitish powder that is insoluble in
water.
Adapalene is
an acne popular treatment; basically functions by
stopping pimples from forming under the surface of
the skin.

Dermatologists
contend that adapalene is a potent acne-control agent
but it has no promise of complete and permanent cure
for acne. The recommended application is
once a day at bedtime.
Frequent application other
than what is directed may irritate the skin and will not
in, any way speed up or improve results. Slight warmth
or stinging sensation is expected of this acne removal
treatment but should vanish in no time.
A doctor's
opinion is needed if the sting lingers longer than usual
with accompanied with redness, scaling, dryness, burning
and itching feeling.
Adapalene users are advised
and warned that acne may get worse during the first few
weeks of treatment. Pimples can take six to eight weeks to form under the skin, and during the first weeks of treatment, adapalene hastens the emergence of pimples to the skin surface.

The treatment continues
even if the condition seems going for the worst.
It
may take 8 to 12 weeks or even longer before the
full benefit is of adapalene is achieved. No
acne alternative treatment should intervene in the
course of the treatment.
Extra caution is taken to skin that is sunburned,
broken, or covered with eczema, or similar skin complaints.
It is best that the skin is allowed to clear
first before adapalene is applied. Adapalene should
not get near the eyes, nose and mouth areas. |
Before the application, the affected
area to be treated needs gentle cleansing with the use
of a mild soap or soapless cleanser. Harsh or abrasive
cleansers are not advisable.
