Microdermabrasion Acne Treatment
Abbreviated
as Microderm, Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure
popular in day and medical spas. A popular acne scars
treatment, Microdermabrasion involves partially or
completely removing the stratum cornea (outermost
surface of the skin) by light abrasion.
At present,
Microdermabrasion is used effectively to treat fine
wrinkles, stretch marks, and scars left from moderate
to severe acne.
This is achieved by aggressively
exfoliating away the dull layer of dead skin, as
well as smoothen and retexturize, leaving the skin
soft and glowing.

Aside from the face, other typical areas to
perform microdermabrasion on include the face, décolleté (for
women wanting a, smooth cleavage), and the hands, which
frequently show signs of aging.
In all, Microdermabrasion
can be done on almost any part of the body, making it a
great Back Acne treatment. Microdermabrasion is most recommended
for scar removal when the scar is raised above the surrounding
skin, but is less effective with sunken scars.
Besides treating acne scars, Microdermabrasion is in itself an effective acne alternative treatment.

One of Acne Popular Treatments,
Microdermabrasion employs different methods, which
includes mechanical abrasion from jets of zinc or
aluminum oxide crystals, or a roughened surface.
Over time, it has become more common to use a wand
with an abrasive surface.
Al the same, such media are employed to
exfoliate the skin, compelling it to produce new cells
more rapidly.
The removed particles and other materials
are usually suctioned off using a small vacuum attached
to a wand.
This acne skin treatment is not painful,
the procedures requiring no anesthetics. |
The procedure usually begins by having one's skin cleansed and toned. The microdermabrasion session will last approximately 30 minutes for a full face treatment.
Usually, one who has undergone the procedure is advised to avoid overexposure in the sun. Also, one is instructed to submit to maintenance home care as instructed by the esthetician concerned. Acne treatment products are not usually left out of maintenance kits.
Microdermabrasion is a dermatological technique first introduced in Europe and consequently adopted by United States in the late 1990s.
