Baby Acne Treatment & Skin Care
Probably the
best skin care for babies is not to overdo cleansing
even if the product used is a medication skin care
or an organic skin care.
A baby's face may
simply be washed with water using some mild baby
care skin soap once a day.
But it appears
that babies are not spared of the most common skin
disorder besetting mankind, acne.
Indeed, baby
acne is very common. Surprisingly
even,
baby acne can be present at birth although more, often
it shows up after a couple of weeks, usually on the
cheeks and sometimes on the forehead, chin, chest,
and rarely at the back.

Almost always baby acne is mistaken for a mere
skin irritation. Not many may notice it since baby acnes
appear as small whiteheads bordered by reddish skin.
It
is when the babies are hot or fussy that these blemishes
become more pronounced - or if the baby's skin is irritated
by saliva, spit-up milk, perspiration or chemical-laced
fabrics like those washed in strong detergent.
A clearer idea of what baby acne is – is
to cite other baby skin conditions unrelated to baby acne,
such as milia. These are tiny bumps on babies’ faces
that appear at birth and most likely to vanish within two
weeks.

And if the breakout
looks more scaly and rashy, rather than pimply, and
surfacing elsewhere on a baby's body, it may be another
condition, such as cradle cap or eczema.
What could be causing baby's acne? As
with teenage or adult acne, there's no clear answer.
(Although
we are quick to surmise that the grown-up version has
something to do with internal and external factors
like hormonal activity and lifestyle – and, for
that matter, generally more acceptable).
To see one baby
acne can be ridiculous. There
must be a cause.

For some time, experts have pointed
to the hormones mothers transferred to their babies at
a time close to the end of pregnancy. The research
continues considering several factors, but is seemingly
pointing on one probability. Accordingly, when the
very pregnant mothers take certain medications while nursing,
for example, babies takes certain medications that can
possibly trigger baby acne.
Baby acne usually clears up within a few weeks, even before you notice it. If you do, don't put skin care creams or similar skin care products. If a baby's acne is severe and likely to scar, doctors may suggest an over-the-counter acne skin care treatment like benzyl peroxide.
