Acne For The Ages
Everyone gets
acne – or at least an occasional bout with
whiteheads, blackheads or pimples. As observed, acne
is a poor skin condition that affected almost everyone,
regardless of race and age, at some time in their
lives.
In fact, despite the
advancement of beauty skin care, acne is arguably
and remains to be the most prevalent skin disease.
Nearly
17 million people in the United States alone have
it.
Research findings showed that nearly 85 percent
of adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12
and 24 develop the unpleasant skin condition.

It added that some people in their forties and
fifties continue to be affected. But the teenagers and young
adults experience it the most, and almost always it is
accepted to exist as “part of growing up.”
For most people however, acne never shows up
on the face when a person turns 30. Accordingly, the puberty's
high hormonal activity is largely to blame for adolescents’ acne.
This is compounded by the actuality that teenagers’ sebaceous
glands tend to produce more oil. Medication skin care
is ever looking into this reality.

The good thing is: acne
does stop, yes in most people. In some cases, acne
that begins in puberty will last beyond age 25, and
can continue up to the age of 40.
Acne affects
young men and young women about equally, but there
are discrepancies.
Young women are more likely to
experience intermittent breakouts due to hormonal
changes associated with their menstrual cycle.
In
some cases, cosmetic skin care products
have also been blamed. Statistics also suggest that a
family history of acne means that there probably
is a genetic basis for the condition.

Hence, it can be said that heredity is a strong
contributing factor for acne. Many individuals are able
to manage their acne with over-the-counter acne skin care
treatments. For some, however, acne is more serious.
In fact, by their mid-teens, more than 40% of adolescents
have acne severe enough to require some serious intervention
by a cosmetic surgeon – such
as laser skin care treatment.
Moreover, understanding the internal and external factors causing acne, dermatologists all over the world have drawn some basic advices for all ages to take and help prevent breakouts. “Don’t pick, pop or squeeze your acne” is definitely tops the list.
Meanwhile, there have been innovative acne skin care treatments and similar health and beauty products (including homemade skin care) developed to alleviate, if not totally eradicate the condition.
