Proper Face Washing
Did you know
that you have a great deal of control over the texture,
suppleness, clarity and long-term health of facial
skin just based on how often and how proper you wash?
Wash your face day and
night -- that's two times a day, no more.
Twice-a-day
cleansing is more than adequate for any skin type unless
you have exposed your skin to excessive dirt.
Frequent
cleansing strips your skin of valuable natural oils.
On the other hand, omitting
cleansing, particularly before bed time, may lead to
build-up and eruptions.

Cleansing is the first and one of the most
important parts of your basic care skin routine.
Proper
cleansing gets rid of dirt and dust, old surface skin
cells, make-up and surface bacteria, thus the skin can
breathe freely. It
also aids circulation and prepares the skin to receive nutrients
and medication skin care applied on its surface.
First, make sure that you find a good foaming cleanser. There's a type of cleanser for every type of skin. Find a good one for you. The foaming helps to absorb some of the oil in your face.
An oil-free face wash is a mild, non-sensitizing,
low-foaming facial wash that easily removes dirt, grime
and pollutants from the skin without stripping the skin
of its natural moisture. It also cleans pores to enable breathing of skin and controls excess oil on skin surface without drying out the face.

Commercial
soaps and similar skin care products are not advisable
on facial skin.
Look for natural skin care
cleanser with nourishing oils and vitamins or those
labeled herbal skin care products.
Cleanser
for sensitive skin should indicate an ultra-gentle,
fragrance-free, non-irritating formula.
Be sure that your hands are clean. Secure
your hair away from the face using a headband.
Clean
and soft Sponges or washcloths work fine, but fingertips
can do just as good. - |
Splash your face with a tepid water then
apply the cleanser by working the lather (making sure everything
is nice and foamy) in a circular motion while pulling everything
up - this way you are going against gravity will give your
skin a little bit of a boost.
Scrub by making gentle massaging strokes. Harsh scrubbing stretches the skin and causes irritation, especially the delicate skin around the eyes. Scrub a little bit on the chin because that is where most of the dirt is trapped. Work around and again with the circular motion on the forehead.
Rinse with lots of tepid water, preferably running water. Always include the neck and the hairline portion. Leaving residue in these areas can clog pores and attract dirt. Gently dab a soft towel to absorb excess water, never scrubbing or dragging the towel along skin.
Do your skin a big favor by giving the best skin care – wash properly.
