Toners
Toner is applied
to the forehead, cheeks ands neck on a pad of cotton
wool immediately after cleansing.
Using upward and
outward strokes, special attention should be given
to the crevices around the nose and around the chin. Toner
is left to dry before applying moisturizer.
The primary role of a
toner in the basic facial care skin regimen is to
completely remove all traces of dirt, make-up or
residue of cleanser that remain after cleansing.
Toners
are particularly important for persons who have oily
or combination skin.

Proper toning results to a smooth surface which
is a good base for make-up. Toners are also known
to tighten pores and even out skin tone.
Beauty skin care
toner restores the acid/alkali balance of the skin, because
they are pH balanced. A
toner's unique formula resolves vital nutrients as it works
to adjust the pH level as well as the natural oils in the
skin.

Cosmetic skin care toners
basically contain alcohol and water.
The basic
difference in the formula is the alcohol content,
too much of which has a drying effect.
Persons
with sensitive skin can experience a mild irritation
and should settle for mildest alcohol-free formula
which soothes and rejuvenates while replenishing
the skin's natural barrier.
The best skin care toner should
be a refreshing blend of natural skin care
ingredients and herbs that hydrate and tone the skin. |
Depending on the formula, the usual organic
skin care additions are glycerine, witch hazel (promotes
even skin tone), menthol, camphor, boric acid, rose water
and alum. Extracts
of ginger, cinnamon, and burnet absorb extra oil and regulate
sebum production. Toners with essential vitamins A, B,
C and E slough away any remaining impurities and create
balanced skin texture.
Homemade skin care can be prepared using tomato
juice, cucumber combined with yoghurt (for normal skin),
mint extract with alum (for dry skin), alcohol with alum,
and honey pus egg (for oily skin).
